A question I get asked a lot is how do I get more success?

How do I become more successful?  Its a common question and something I’ve put into actionable steps for you today!

The first step is to define YOUR own meaning of success.  In this day and age there are plenty of messages in the media and from others about what societies definition of success is.  It’s challenging to cut through all the talk and really hear what makes you feel successful.

Even still I know you can do it and I have broken this down into 3 step easy system to get you on the road to being more successful.

Step 1.

Find a quiet space or time to yourself once a day + journal.  You might only need to get up 15min earlier or take some writing with your afternoon coffee.

In “The Artists Way”,  the author, Julia Cameron, speaks about daily pages and encourages her students to write 3 stream of consciousness pages a day.

This gives you time and space to ask yourself the questions you need to.

Step 2.

Ask yourself what activities or feelings you need to have on a consistent basis in order for you to feel FULL?   Happy, wealthy in spirit and mind and body?  This gives you clues as to what your ‘calling’ and ‘success’ stepping-stones are.

Some examples might be, spending time reading inspiring stories, listening to hip hop music, or giving back to the community .

Step 3.

Diarize them and put them on your diary so that you hold yourself accountable for doing these things that give you success and feeling successful feelings on a consistent basis.  Literally put in your writing time per day on your calendar and commit to carving out this new activity for yourself.

My definition of success is having close family and friends that respect me and are inspired by my experiences and projects to step out of their comfort zones and make leaps and bounds in their lives too.

At 24, my definition of success used to be being known, liked and respected by my entertainment industry leaders and peers to work consistently but that changed when I made the mind shift from “What can I get” to “What can I give?”. Now I am successful when I am growing and making a difference to the world.

Now, I surely haven’t thought of all the ways to define success so I know you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve to share with all of us here too.  Write them below in the comment box and share in the love.
