How To Pursue The Art Of Graceful Self Promotion
Ever thought of heading over to LA or NY to pursue your dreams?
If you have ever entertained the IDEA of going out there to pursue your dreams, you need to know one of two things.
People are generally successful in the Industry because:
Either they are extremely talented and make the break that way
OR
They are really good at graceful self-promotion.
I like to believe that if you’re not a really great performer yet you can work hard on your craft and become that performer and the same goes, for your self-promotion.
The methods to graceful self promotion involve a lot more of being YOU rather than being the freaky shadow side of yourself that I know you sometimes let loose to over take your conversations.
If you haven’t already experienced that icky feeling, I trust that anybody you’ve met has had this experience. And if you have, don’t worry!
Here’s some simple tips to get you on the path to Be a Zen Master in Connecting Gracefully:
1. Be More YOU and trust yourself out in the world
I always teach my students the power of embracing their own uniqueness and letting more of their strengths shine through. There is only 1 of you in this world and the more YOU show up as your beautiful unique self, the more success will be attracted to your authenticity. It works, I’ve done it myself and I’ve seen it many times.
2.Ask Questions and Be Interested
I have a student called Mark who demonstrates this skill really well with everyone he meets. He holds himself in his most unique and grounded self and makes a lovely impression by being polite and asking interesting questions with a smile. All it takes is his belief that he makes a really great first impression and then he uphold that end of his bargain!
3.Find in Every Conversation + Every Interaction the time to Gracefully Ad your plug or upcoming event or talent.
There will always be a moment you can mention what you are up to most recently and this doesn’t need to be a lie. Perhaps nothing is happening at the moment but you are signed in to take classes beginning next week; you mention that! It doesn’t need to be a plug about a Broadway play, just something that shows you’re dedicated and interested in advancing your career.
4.Give Your Card Or Ask If They Are Online
5.Follow Up!
The Key To Graceful Self Promotion and marketing is to have a solid follow up plan. This means keeping regular contact maybe once a month, and also adding value to them.
I mean in the way of a link to a site they might find interesting or taking them out for a coffee sometime. The list of ways to add value is limitless and it really is the difference that makes the difference.
Ok, so now you’re skilled on the Art of Self Promotion you actually need to get out there and attend events, parties, dinner parties or even be open to meeting people in the most regular places like your local coffee shop.
I know you are a smart cookie too who has their own success at self-promotion, what are some things that YOU do that work, that I haven’t mentioned here?
